Default MP3 capabilities question

I have a 07 Gt with a jack inside the console box for MP3 player hookup......hubby wants to get me a MP3 player for Christmas and I have a question about using it with this jack...do you need a special cable? When I look at the players I don't see any option for a car cable? Anyone use this and how does it work???? I would read my manual but its at home since it snowed here and we drove the truck today.

The cable can be bought anywhere. Walmart, Radioshack, BestBuy, etc. Its just a single cable with a male connector on each end. One end of the cable plugs into your headphone jack on the mp3 player and the other end goes into your auxilary input in the center console. Very easy and straight forward. it'll cost you $5 approximately. If your confused just go to Radioshack and tell them what you wanna do. Bring your mp3 player to ensure you get the right size connector, even thought theyre all the same for the most part.

It works great! I have my iPod sitting in the rear cup holder with the cord running out from the console so when I am at a red light I can change music if I want. It was a good idea on Ford's part to put one of these jacks in.

So does that mean the radio isn't able to change tracks or anything? It all has to be done on the iPod? Guess they'll have to design an external holder that will still allow you to plug it in so you don't waste that valuable cupholder!

yep. once the radio's in aux mode, the only way to change tracks is with the mp3 player.
