time slip #s

On everyone's time slip there is a car # ex: 404 or 089. Is this assigned to you at a track or do you choose your own and report it when you are at the track racing?

I suppose it depends, at our 1/8th mile track they assign it to you based on your class and how many people, for example I am 20411.

you get a different number every time you go...based on class (and/or lane) and how many cars are in that class (and/or lane)
