Cops?
Alright well tonight me and my friend were driving around in my car ... heading to my girlfriends house... about a mile from her house we go through a light and a cop passes us i pay no attention and then when im turning into her neighborhood i realize that hes right behind me but i was speeding or anything (going 30 in a 25) then we stop at her house and park and when im about to get out of the car i notice my friend says theres a cop behind you .... he pulled up behind me but didnt put his lights on or anything ... then i get out as he does and ask him if there was a problem? he proceeded to shine the light all over my car and exhaust and inside of it and everything ..... he then says i was just wondering what kind of lights you put on there ..... and i responded that they are just stock ... (which they are) and he goes up to it and looks at my front lights and points to the fog lights and says did you put these on or are they stock ? i said they are just stock i drive with them on though ... he then walks back to his car and says i was going to give you a ticket for having your high beams on but now i know you dont ....
Im not tryin to offend any cops out there and if there are some out there maybe you can explain .... but im thinking the whole light thing was just a lame excuse to make sure i wasnt up to anything ... i guess he saw and heard the car and decided to follow me for about a mile to make sure i wasnt speeding or anything ... ? idk was a bit odd ive never heard of anyone getting a ticket for having high beams on anyway ...

you can definitely get a ticket for having your high beams on when not needed. it blinds oncoming drivers, etc.
he could have had his reasons but he didn't do crap to you other than hassle you for a bit. that's fine with me.
i'd rather have cops hassle people to find the bad guys rather than pick and choose and hope for the best or even worse, wait til something bad happens. preventive work is just as good as proactive work.
btw, just to give you an example so i'm not just running my mouth, i've been wrongly pulled over too. there was a dark colored mustang around my area that was hotdogging it one night and i know they had to have been drunk. a call went out to find it, i get pulled over at almost gunpoint because i had a black mustang and the cops let me go after figuring out right away i wasn't drunk. i told them they were just doing their job and they thanked me for being understanding.
end of story

the only thing that sounds weird is that he didn't go ahead and light you up when you stopped to let you know you were actually being stopped.
but, i will say this, i don't drive with my foglights on. i used to but i don't anymore for a couple of reasons.
1. It is a very unique design and instantly indicates Ford Mustang GT. (I know some V6's have them now.)
2. It can be misinterpreted as brights due to the two sets of lights at the same level.
brights being stuck on are an indicator of a stolen vehicle or a drunk. he was probably following you to see if you crossed the double yellow, swerved in your lane, failed to signal, etc... he may have been running your plate and waiting for a response.
so, he got out to talk to you to see if he could smell any alcohol or see any open containers in plain view in your vehicle.
appears as though he just doesn't know anything about cars and the design of our mustang and saw what he thought was an indicator and decided to pursue it.
nerve-racking for you i'm sure....

I have a friend who is a highway patrolman here in Mississippi and he told me, that alot of times if anything appears out of the ordinary the highway patrol will pull you over to make sure everything is cool and you don't have any illegal substances, or open containers.
I think this is a common mistake. Many cars out there look like they have 4 headlights lit when their highbeams are on. I get flashed all the time for it. I just give a quick flash to show them that the 4 lights on a Mustang doesn't mean highbeams.
I get flashed ALL the time.. People think the Fog lights (Really just driving lights) = High beams every night. Hell I was flashed 3 times tonight. Once I flash back and my real high beams come on they feel stupid.
Oh and if you are hassled about it.. Just have them stand in front of the car and flash your high beams while the fogs are on.. They will see the fogs go out.. and the highs come on. So there is no way you can get ticketed for driving with the fog/driving lights on.

It may also depend on where you are at as far as driving/fog lights go. Here in VA we actually had to put through legislation to allow for more than 2 pairs of lights to be equipped on the vehicle(including headlights)for legal inspection, before the Roush could be sold here, if it had not passed, Roush was considering making a VA(and possibly other states) package with out the extra driving lights. That would have made for a nice rarity.
like many had said, just about every night i drive i get highbeamed by other people thinking i have my high beams on and then when i put my high beams on. I find it funny some times but like you ive been waiting for it to be a cop one time.
