Default clicking/clacking sound from engine

after reading the thread about how a guy took his wife's GT into a dealership to get a problem fixed and found out later that the car had been tortured at the hands of some punk with a lead foot, i am kind of wondering about my car and it's sounds. i'm the only one who's ever drove it but i just want to see if this sound is normal.

my dad says it's coming from the fuel injectors and i partially agree with him. the sound happens on both sides of the engine and is more of a clacking sound. my friend says he's heard louder but if i can hear it if i stick my head out of the window at a dead stop, then it's loud enough.

do any of you guys have a slightly noisy engine or does it purr quietly?

probably injectors; some are louder than others. You can get a mechanics stethoscope from harbor freight for about 3 bucks...and you can isolate the noise yourself.

Go test drive a GT at a dealership and give a listen to another enigneto compare.

mine does the same exact thing but i found it's coming from the injectors and i also had a friend of mine who works at a ford dealership take a look and he said that the 3V v8 is just a noisy engine and there's really nothing to fix the problem, but it's nothing thats going to hurt your engine.

07Alloy - same here after installing bassani cross pipes with CAT, JLT II CAI and Borla stingers, but not loud enough to **** me off. I think it's what we got for adding those things. Or fixing that something that's not broken.

Dunno if your sure its from the engine or not but when the A/C is on the Compressor clacking and clicking is extremely loud.

Yeah, my car, for the first few minutes after startup, sounds faintly like a Diesel engine!

Had the same issue when I had my C5 Vette (LS1 engine), they called it "piston slap"..considered normal

Mine clicks and clacks since new. It's the injectors.

It is the injectors and you need to take into account that you have a plastic intake manifold so noise is easily transmitted through it unlike a aluminum one that suppresses the noise somewhat do to it being metal.
