Default 2007 GT Axleback install... (Update...)

Question for a few of the 07 owners out there... I just got the Bassani axle-backs and discovered a small problem after removing the factory mufflers. The factory over axle pipes have an alignment post on them that correspond to a notch in the pipes on the mufflers. The problem is the bassanis have no notch and will not slide over the pipes sufficent distance to bolt up the mufflers. I figure Ill either have to figure out exactly where to notch the new muffler pipe or grind off this alignment post. Anyone else come across this problem? And to any 05-06 owners... Does your car use this post/notch system?

+1 for the Borlas then - This is the first post I've seen about this. Is it a big deal?

Thanks

Flowmasters have the notch too. Do you have a grinder to grind it off?

Ground it off, bolted up new Bassani's. Sounds hot.

Unfortunately they were quite a bit longer than the factory ones. The air diffuser on my CS bumper was touching them and looked like it was starting to melt a bit. I took them to a local muffler shop and had some of the pipe trimmed and welded so they dont touch anymore. I suspect they might not have touched a regular GT bumper. Additonally I had read from some people that the hangers only had 2 bolts per muffler. My 07 had 4, a couple were pretty hard to get to. What was supposed to be a simple swap became a bit of a pain in the ***. But on the plus side I really like the sound.
