Convertible Owners - Top problems?

Convertible Owners - Top problems?
I've had my 2006 convertible for 4 months (I live in S. Fla). This morning I went to put the top down. I put the windows down, unfastened the driver - then passenger locks, then pushed the button to put up the top and it just made a noise but did not work. I tried the button a couple of more times then was able to get it to shut and I locked it. I tried from the beginning again and everything worked fine. I put the top up/down about 4-5 times more today and it worked fine.
Has anyone had any problems with their tops?
Should I be concerned about mine?
(I know it would not do it at the dealer at this point...)
Please - any feedback, advice or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks to all.

I have not had an experience like yours...but I usually let the top control button do everything. I unlatch FIRST, the hit the button and let the windows roll down automatically then the top comes down.
To put the top up, same thing...but after the top is secured and latched I rais the rear windows ALL THE WAY first, then raise the front windows. Iraised front and rear windows simulaneously once, and heard some funky mechanical interference that I didn't like....
Our mechanisms don't have quite the sophistication of the Bentley softops.....

Thanks very much for the feedback so far. I will try that sequence - I usually open windows first, then unlatch.
Yes Rupp - I did hear the motor whine. What can this mean?
Thank you.

My guess is you were pushing the button in the same direction it already was. Example, pushing it to go down when it was down, or up when it was up. The old "OE"....Operator Error"

Just got mine and I live in Northern IL so this time of the year I haven't really been dropping the top. Although being this time of year up here I got a great deal on a drop top

Thanks all. I'm hoping it's a one time thing. Just wanted to ask because I haven't seen any other posts I can remember in 2 years on this forum about problems with the convertible top. (had a coupe for a while though).
Any other feedback is appreciated.

RE: Convertible Owners - Top problems?
I'm new to this forum and have an 06vert too and had to post. How reliable are the tops on the verts? Any known problems with the tops or having to take in for motor repair/replace, etc.? Glad to finally post.

RE: Convertible Owners - Top problems?
There were a few problems here or there that I heard about....leaks or misalignment issues....but no "systemic" problems. For what it's worth I had an '89 GT ragtop with the original top and I sold it last spring...still working fine.
