Manifold STUDS
I was installing my MAC O/R X-pipe and had a friend there to help. Long storey short one of us (my friend) ended up messing up the threads on one of the left side exhasut manifold studs (pictured below). My question is how hard is it to replace this? It seemed like it was probably welded on becasue i could not see the other side. Anyone know what the hell im talking about?!?!? HELP!

All you have to do is get the bolt out somehow and get a new one. A way to get it out would be cutting it for one or you could heat it up and then twist it out. It's not welded on there becuase you wouldn't be able to disconnect the manifold from the midpipe/cats.

where is the stud attached to the exhaust manifold? Can you take some pictures for me? If there is a stud attached to the exhaust manifold then it will definately come off because I know there is nothing there for me because I just took mine apart the other day. I have to look at it tomorrow if you can't get pictures, because I thought it was just a nut and bolt that held it together.

I think the stud is just scewed into the manifold. You should be able to double nutthe studandscrew it out. Use some penetrating oil and it should be good to go.
ON EDIT: This is how older cars are made. I have not had the need to do it to the new one but it should be the same.

Get some Pb-Blaster penetrating oil and let it soak a day or two. Then buy a stud removal socket from Napathat will fit on a 3/8 drive socket. The stud should break loose. I've had to weld a nut on the manifold studs on my F-150 so I could get the stud out of the block. The studs can be a pain in the a**.
It sounds like if i take it to a shop to have it done it shouldnt be a big deal. I just don't feel like jacking the car up over again , taking off the pipe and trying to squeeze my hands in there again. I'd make my frined do it but it's hard for him to work with two broken arms.
Thanks for the info guys.
Although I was kind of hoping I could use this as an excuse to buy LT Headers, and justify it to the wifey. "Honey the stud is stripped so they have to replace the whole manifold so i might as well just a pay a little more and get better ones put on."

I have never used a stud removal tool. I have always just double nuted it. HOWEVER, if the threads are stripped so bad you cant get 2 nuts on there you could have some problems. A stud removal tool prolly pics up on the threads aswell? In which case this is going to get much harder if the threads are really bad.
Well i got her fixed today, went to three different shops, the first one didn't handle that type of thing so they sent me to a muffler shop, the muffler shop was too busy but wanted to make an appointment, when i asked about how much t hey said well it depends we may have to drop this and do that and blah blah blah at 80 bucks an hour it was gonna add up fast. So i went down the road and found a MIDAS of all places. It was empty only one guy working, apparently the store use to be corporate owned and was run into the ground so it had a bad rep around town but was recently sold to a private owner, but I have nothing but good things to say, the guy rethreaded the stud, and he even re-aligned the entire exhaust for me so it was even out the back. I was out the door for $35 bucks. Anyone in Ft Myers are of Florida id recommend the MIDAS off of US-41 any day.
