I would like to put a mirror in my car with the ambient temperature, compass and autodimmer. Just want to know if the wiring exsists in the car and do Ineed to buy any additional parts? I am lookin to but it from "partscheap.com"

I have '07 GT premium coupe.

Thanks

The only wiring you will need will be power and ground, and to run the tempature sensor. And all of that should come with the mirror.

In my opinion, if you are going to go to the trouble to do that much, you might as well also get homelink.

I put one in mine. It does the compass, temperature, and auto dimming. The mirror cost $200. The install was long (lot of running wires for temp sensor). The onnly think I do not like is that the cables come down the widnshield in the middle and it break up the little pony stuff on the top of the windshield.

There is no factory wiring for an electrochromic mirror with temp/compass display in the 05-07 Mustang. Ford sells an accessory kit to add this type of mirror with and without homelink......but all the wiring is supplied in that kit.

Ford sells the Gentex mirror. You can get it cheaper if you search online. I got one with the temp sensor and that's what makes the wiring more difficult. You have to run the sensor wires to the front of the car. But it's worth it, I love that feature. I also got it with compass and homelink (for garage door and other remotes). Do a search, I found lots of good info here before I did mine.

I just did a ton of research on these mirrors and if you're getting one. Try these guys http://www.brandnewelectronics.com/Items/50-GENK30%20-?

They have a specially designed harness that allows the maplights in the mirror to autodim with the ones in the overhead console. The K30 model has maplights, compass and temp. If you want homelink, it's like an extra $100 more than the K30.

I bought mine from Autoanything.com, but they only sell the K31 without the premium wiring harness.

Get the one with homelink and you won't be sorry. I ordered my mirror when I bought the car and let Ford install it, cost me a little more but it is covered by their warranty. Good luck!
