Default Changing the headunit-easy or hard?

I have an 06 GT with a Shaker 500, and I've been thinking about changing to another head unit so I can get real iPod integration. Is this a relatively simple thing to do? I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing it myself.
Also, has anyone used Crutchfield's professional installation service? Any good?
Thanks!

I bought my unit from Crutchfield and they give you everything you need to do it yourself . I on the other hand bought the InstallerCard from them. When you buy the InstallerCard you're guaranteed to have it installed for 200 bucks and they recommend a certified place. <---------DO NOT BUY THE INSTALLER CARD.....THEY HAVE TERRIBLE SERVICE AND THEYRECOMMENDED SOME GHETTO JOINTIN THE BRONXTO INSTALL MY ****! Luckily it came out great but I wouldn't go back to them.

Did the Z1 myself with bluetooth, XM, Ipod and TV tuner. The headunit was rather easy. The add ons were more complex since I mounted many underneath the passenger seat.

I just changed mine about a month or so ago. Purchased at Crutchfield, self installed. If you can spin a screwdriver, you can do the install. Crutchfield includes the harnesses, and dash kit necessary to do this install. They also include some very good installation instructions. Nose around the boards and read some of the posts......

I was a bit paranoid about doing the switch, but I PM'ed some folks on here that had done theirs, got some excellent advice, and went for it. I am pleased I did, as well as with the outcome.

Good Luck with your decision,
Mike
