Default 3rd Brakelight Trim

I dont have any good pics of the back of my car. It has been rainy and cold latley so I havnt had a chance to get any good pics since I put the tailight panel, splitters, and chin spoiler on. Below is the best I have.

So with the theme set now the question; I am looking for a black trim piece that goes on the 3rd brake light that will match the splitters. Does anyone know where I can find such a thing? It needs to be flat black. I just want trim not a decal.

On ebay I found THIS but it is chrome I can repaint it but it is very expensive. I figure if I can find a black one it will be MUCH cheaper since it doesnt have to be chromed.

So long stroy short do U know where I can buy a flat black 3rd brake light trim or a cheap one that I can paint.

Is this legal? Just curious - I think the Saleen rear fascia has it. I assume it is but just checking... Would look very nice.

In Texas you dont even have to have the 3rd brake light working to get it inspected. I dont know how it is other places. However, since it is just trim I dont think it would be illegal anywhere. Also it would take someone that really knew his mustangs to know it wasnt stock.

I live in FL. Think it would look great. I have seen that look in the Saleen rear fascia. Curious if any aftermarket parts are available too.

Hey Riven, Do our cars even require a 3rd brake light at all in Texas?

If I have to I will buy the chrome one and paint it. Cause I think it looks funny on my car to have trim on the taillights but none on the 3rd brake light.

To be honest I dont know. My 65 of course doesnt have one but it never did. I had a 2000 ranger that had the 3rd brake light burned out and they said it didnt matter when I had it inspected. I had ran a satilight radio attenna through the housing then used some silicone sealer around the inside of the housing. So when the light burned out I go to replace it and I cant get the housing off. The sealer I used stuck it to the car forever.[&:] It was inspected 4 or 5 times without the light working.

I put the chrome one on mine for about a day but then didnt like it since it didn't cover the edge of the light. You could see light on the outside of the trim still. It might fit yours and you might like the way it looks though. I think its personal preference. I think that your car looks fine without it though.
