Default IPod hookup

So I was in my buddies 07 GT/CS and it has a plug for the ipod built in. It is located inside the center console right next to the power plug. I was pissed when I saw that. Mine is an 06 and I don't have it. Now I do have a set of wires w/ a plug underneath my center console. I had it out for something else I was doing and notice but it didn't go to anything so I paid it no mind. Now I know what it is for. So with that said, I wonder if FORD would sell just the plug part that I could put in myself and hookup to those wires already there..... I might have to drill a hole for the plug b/c there doesn't seem to be anything there to just punch out.

Don't let Ford sell you the plug part they will rip you off. Go to Radio Shack and tell them what you need and you're set. You'll save some cash. I had mine put on by the dealer and they use Radio Shack products.[:@]

The plug under your console is probably for the shifter light, should your car have been an auto.........

Are we talking about a hard wire into the Radio? I didn't think we could do it with our stock radios...???

so is this only an option started on the 07's then. I've been thinking of changing the Shaker 500 out for the new Alpine that has the XM built right into so you have the external box anyways. My wife's honda has the same plug and it is an 05. Sucks Ford waited till 07 to put it in.

Good point about the light, forgot about that. the plug only had 2 wires so that would makes sense for the light on the shifter.

thanks for the heads up. I did a search and came across what I think you are talking about. A small little converter box that gives you RCA jacks correct? I'm wondering if I could get this other option that he had on his car. I'm thinking of changing the head unit all together so it wouldn't matter then but in the mean time I might have to check into this.

Even with RCA you don't get a read out on the deck. Seems worthless... :/ UPGRADE!!!!
