Default Shaker 500 + iPod

I know, I know....USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!

I did with no results. The funny thing is....I've seen 1,000 topics related to this, but when I need it........I cant find it! My question: I want to add an ipod nano (4gig) to my shaker 500. What is the best way to do it. I took the shaker out and put an older alpine unit in. Im gonna put the shaker back in. It has an aux function(I think.) I eventually plan on installing a brand new head unit, but for now I want to get my ipod working in the car for minimal cost. Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

Hope we are having a good afternoon!

Joel

for minimal cost then i guess u would have to go with an fm modulator. If you want it to sound good though then u have to go with a peripheral ipod interface that lets you control the ipod through the shaker. that will run you like 150. If thats too much go fm or just put in a new headunit

With my shaker 500 I got a just a cord that hooks up to my Ipod and the other end goes into an outlet in my console. All i do is turn on the ipod and press AUX on my shaker 500 and BAM im in business.Im not sure how much it cost because i got it for christmas but...it cant be more than 20 bucks for a cord. The sound quality is much better then running it througha radio channel. I hope this helps. (i think mine is from radio shack)

I saw a thread about this before and the guy said he got some device from Radioshack that was cheap and worked. Check them out. I have the plug in my '07 and it works just like advertised... but you control it through the ipod. Sounds very good.

I just got finished putting my Shaker back in.....I ran across a random female plug under the center console......could this be an un finished ipod type connection??? Ill try to get a pic but it was near the arm rest, kinda underneath the larger cupholder.....

Thanks

under the cupholder, it is the lighting circuit for the auto sifter. I am using the PIE adapter and feeding both my sattelite and my ipod through it, there is also an adapter at bedt buy for 100 bucks that allows you to charge and control the ipod through the shaker. Of course they come out with it after I buy the PIE unit as the new kit is supposed to have a 3.5 in as well as the ipod cable.

Forgive me for being dumb......Whats the "PIE adapter"?

I saw that kit and am considering it if there is no way to get the ipod to work without it.
