If you have Ford's road side assistance, than go for it.[sm=icon_rofl.gif]

I'm pretty sure it is part of the rear impact system...

And what would it matter if it is just a DD?

Whenever I go cruising or expect a race, I take it out. It's easier to launch without bogging, and it takes 40lbs out of the car, so I have experienced its removal to be worth half a car length to a car length in a 0-100 type of race. It's not like I could even drive the car on the spare anyway, considering the 2.5in drop and 20s on the other 3 corners...

So what's the deal with it being a part of the rear impact system? Is it a safe bet to take it out then?

You'll have to get hit by a semi that doesn't hit the brakes for a rear impact to kill you (without flipping and running you into something up front).

I bet that spare has a larger outside diameter than your 20's.
