wax
guys this may seem sillyb but this is the first car that I have liked enough to actually wax and take care of. so here is a couple of quick questions:
1. what is a good wax to use?
2. should it be done by hand or use a rotory buffer?
3. how do you prevent (or get rid of) wax buildup next to vinyal stripes?
Thanks
oh, quit looking at my bunny !!!!

Ok if your asking questions this basic as to what wax to use. I highly suggest that you DO NOT touch your car with a rotary buffer/polisher as you will most likely cause some serious problems.
As for wax and which one is best well that is all personal preference. It is hard to beat Meguiars for the OTC products. Meg's # 26 is a very nice wax that is easy to use. Apply it by hand with a foam pad and remove it with a Quality Microfiber towel not one you buy at a auto parts store. As for removing the wax aloong the vynil use a MF and your fingernail inside the towel.
And i have a question for you. Do you know where that bunny picture came from?

1) there are a lot of good waxes out there, some more expensive then others. I use Mcguires, its easy to apply, comes off easy, leaves a great shine and its not too expensive
2) don't use a rotary buffer, it will leave micro scratches. not necessary on a new car
3) don't get too close to the stripes. I use turtle wax ice between waxes and it will work well near your stripes.

One thing I like to do is use blue painters tape (easy release) on things I don't want to wax like trim & stripes and such. Sounds time consuming but it goes on quick & I don't have to be as careful when applying wax, besides nothing messes up a good wax job like white residue on your trim.
Theres a pretty good detail sub-forum. Lots of detailing info there,

I use the Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax, and really like it because it goes on easily and doesn't take a ton of work to get it to buff up. I know other people like some of the Meguiar's paste waxes and such, so it's kind of a matter of preference...
I just know that I'll steer clear of any EagleOne and any ArmorAll product. ArmorAll will adhere, and adhere, and adhere, and adhere some more, and leave everything oily. It's horrid stuff, and I do NOT recommend it at all. EagleOne products that I've used in the past just left tons of residue, and I won't ever use their stuff again because of it.
