I have a 2006 GT Vert and am considering purchasing a strut tower brace.Does this mod do anything for tightening up some of the convertible's shimmy and shakes? Of the STBs that fit over the Ford plenum cover, is there one that is clearlysuperior?

 

From what I've learned about it, it's almost a purely cosmetic mod, and doesn't do much to help performance.

 

I have the Strange Development brace on my '06 GT 'vert. I love it. Stiffenens up a 'vert. I think it was very worthwhile. Cowl shake is almost completely gone. 5 min. install.

 

Get one. Tightens up the chassis. It's next on my list.

 

The GT500 brace will work with two fender washers on the rear bolts if you aren't running an intake manifold cover....

You'll get mixed reviews on this one as you can see. For me, the jury is still out. Some folks say it works some don't. I don't have one, but dang, if it does work, like our fellow stanger's say...why not get one huh.

 

Blue Oval industries makes them in chrome or black and they work with the Plenum Covers.I have not installed one yet, but this is the one i intend to go with.

wait the gt500 one will work on our hood? I'd love to know for sure because for like 40 bux or whatever it is thats cheap and good mod.

 

I have a plenum cover- my brace from Strange Dev. clears it just fine.
