Default loose muffler = pain

i was driving around all weekend and all was good until today i started hearing a wierd rattle and sure enough when i get home i see my muffler is hanging low. i guess the hanger broke and the pipe r hitting some thing under there, i dunno what exactly but from what i saw it was just a bar of metal, but then again thats all thats down there, metal bars. any idea how much this would cost me, to re weld a hanger?

any repectable place should do it for free or charge you like 5 bucks or something. it will take them all of 3 minutes to clamp a ground cable to your car and lay a bead on there.

for my edification, is this a Fordpart that broke, an installation error, or a Flowmaster weld that failed?

ok so what happen was that on the muffler thats on the driver side is not stock so there is no 2nd hanger bracket on that side like there is on the other side. on the other muffler there were 2 hangers, one on the muffler itself, and another behnd the muffler on the pipe. on the driver side muffler since there was no stock bracket, they only put one hanger on the pipe behind the muffler, so it was holding all that stress with just one hanger when there shouldve been 2. these bumpy roads and all the construction finally didnt its damage and the hanger just broke right off and left a nice sized hole in the pipe behind the muffler. the noise i ws hearing was the pipe hitting my panhard bar, which didnt make me feel good, but no damage was done thankfully. i took it to the shop and the fabed up a bracket welded it into place and then patched the hole and put 2 new hangers and welded everything back perfect. they didnt even charge me which was awesome and it only took like 30 minutes. but this is something i wasnt really aware of, only having one hanger on the drier side exhaust, so i guess thats something people should look out for when getting duals on the 4.0
