TPMS malfunction. Help please.
Hey, my name is Kyle and I very recently purchased a new 2007 Ford Mustang from a local dealer.
The car now has 207 miles on it and I have had no problems till now.
I just finished installing alot of stereo equipment including 2 amps and 2 10's and all new door speakers.
Nothing, but the apms are hooked for I have not had time to install the new radio, but after I re-installed the battery and started the car I get a strange message.
It's telling me there is a "TPMS MALFUNCTION" or a problem with the tire pressure monitor system.
All my tires are fine and I never touched the unit.
So, my question is, could someone tell me where the unit is, how to "restet" it, or an easy fix is?
Thanks you very much!
Peace

RE: TPMS malfunction. Help please.
The sensors themselves are on bands inside the wheel. If I understand it correctly, they transmit a frequency to some receiver wirelesly which then reports the information to the ECU. Not sure but I heard that the frequency has to be registered or programmed into the ECU. You might need to take it into the dealer to have it cleared. Sorry I couldn't help more, I haven't actualy seen this system. -Joe

RE: TPMS malfunction. Help please.
After disconecting the battery for a while it takes some time for the TPM system to set up again. Mine did the same thing when I installed the trip-tunes module. It will be back to normal in a few hours.
