Default The Compitition

So, I was at the car show this past weekend. No doubt, I love my stang but I have to admit the Camaro and Challenger are looking pretty good. Looks like their coming out swinging. I see some fun times ahead with the 3 of us battling it out on the roads...

I am still not so sure they will be coming out. Will see. The GTO was a bust. Big engine, big weight, crappy looks.

DaimlerChrysler announced Tuesday (2/13/2007) that the all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger will be built at its Brampton Assembly Plant near Toronto, Ontario. The production version of the 2008 Dodge Challenger will be a two-door, HEMI(R) V-8- powered, rear-drive vehicle. It will be the first coupe built on Chrysler Group's highly successful large car platform, which includes the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Magnum.

Chevrolet has said they will begin building the Camaro in 2009, but that's a long way off for an ailing automaker.

I too have NO idead when those cars will ever come out nor what they will look like. I am leaning to guessing the Challenger will be the car to blow away most Mustangs, but I have a feeling it will come at a Saleen type sticker price. Has anyone heard about them offering base model Challengers with V-6's or plain V-8's? Or just Hemis? Closer to $40,000 than $30,000 is my guess.

I read both chevy and dodge are having troubles turning these into production carsto hit the 30,000 price point and compete with the Mustang. Obviously they need to hit 300 plus horse at around $30,000 to sell to the masses. Be interesting to see what they come up with when they move from concept to production, although mustang did a decent job in staying close to the concept car....we'll see...
