Default X pipes?

I just ordered my Pypes violators and was wondering if its worth changing out the stock H pipe and installing the X pipe? I have not yet installed a CAI or tune, coming in the spring when the snow disappears. Will the X pipe make any difference in performance? It would appear from other posts it will make the exhaust note louder, than just replacing the mufflers. Any feedback would be appreciated. Also can the X pipe be installed with basic tools and a axle stands or is it a shop job?

If you're talking about an O/R x pipe, then yet you will get a much louder note. Also with an o/r x pipe you are gaining some power (8-10 i think). Easily done in your garage with hand tools and jack stands ( 1 hour tops), but i highly reccomend a tune if going this way, or at least mil emiminators to get rid of the check engine light.

On a different note, i wouldnt bother looking for gains or much from exuast before getting the cai and tune. These cars respond amazingly to a cai and a tune, and is the BEST bang for the buck, not only in hp but throttle response, throttle lag, ect... Worry about the cai and tune first, the rest is just extra, you will never be able to experience it to its fullest potential without the tune.

I agree, completely, H or X is about the same power, just different sound. Don't try off roadpipes with out a tune.

H-pipe preserves the deep tone while the x-pipe will add a "raspy" tone to the exhaust. The pypes h-pipe from brenspeed is only 170 and it is completely kick ***. I am putting on with my stingers shortly.

I agree the first step is a CAI and Tune. You will need to tuner to turn off the check engine light as stated.

B amachips and Brenspeed are great places to start looking for the CAI and Tuner!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I will get the CAI and tune ordered this week. Cant decide on JLT or TI with Brenspeed 91 tune. Waiting a reply from Brenspeed which will give me the best gains. Both look good.
