Default Please help! (Governer restriction?)

Hey, I was with a couple of mustang guys today and I relized I couldn't rev my engine up past 4000 rpm's. Not that I will need it for anything but I just got exhaust so I was checking it out. I heard something that the goverment puts on that restricts the amount of RPM's you can go. Please let me know if that is true and if there is anyway to remove it.

haha....usually this is associated with the car going into "limp mode"....could you stil drive normal with no engine lights, could you go past 4000 when actually drive??

yes I could, but a friend from the service department at ford told me that once you start hitting 5 acually in gear it will start to cut down. He told me the only way to change that is adding a chip.

Could be true, most have a tune here and have no problem crossing that barrier. I do it on a daily basis! You have a 6 also so that may have a lot to do with it.

LIMP DICK MODE FTL..............

its either limp mode or it just limits the revs when its not moving. the GT auto has that, but not the stick, maybe the stick v6er has it?

my buddy's RSX type S only revs to 6G when the car is going <5mph.

I know the manuals have the limp mode, but you are right there is no limit on revving that i know of...

I got a predator but the SCT is great too and its not a chip, you flash the computer with the tuner and your computer is reprogrammed.

All V6 cars have a 4000rpm limit whilt you are in park or not moving. Once you get going you will have a normal rev limit around 6000rpms. With a tuner you can raise the limiters like I did. Neutral limiter is at 5000 and normal rev limiter is at 6500 now. The park limiter will not slow you down any.
