Insane man - insane!

Try this Calc, it can show you the ratio vs Speed vs RPM

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking more at driveability effects than gas mileage though.
Seems like I may just have to shift into second more than with the 3.55s. It's worth it then .
BTW - Kaldar - from your response - This seems to me like a contradiction. You say "no difference in driveability" and "people make too much of a big deal" but then you say you get "insanely increased acceleration?" WTF? I wanna hear more about this!
"i have 4.10s in my 5 speed manual and i dont notice much of a difference in drivibility, aside from the insanely increased acceleration "

i think people make too big of a deal over 4.10s vs 3.55s in drivability honestly.
i have 4.10s in my 5 speed manual and i dont notice much of a difference in drivibility, aside from the insanely increased acceleration
although when youre going with the flow of traffic around 80-90 on the beltway, i was spinning some high rpms lol, like 3 grandish
4.10s are awesome.. ive beat so many cars since ive gotten the 4.10s.

sorry i'm retarded haha, basically what i was trying to say.. people make a big fuss out of 4.10s, most of the time people who don't have them in these cars. the acceleration increase is AMAZING, but the practicality of drivibility is not compromised, by no difference in drivability.. i mean i daily drive my car, i drive it on the beltway, i drive it to work / school, no problems at all just take it easy.
so basically, get 4.10s.

i've got the 3.73's n they r running just fine ... the good thing about is u dont lose high speeds, not like 4.10's where u lose top speed! (this is what happened to ppl with 4.10's that i know)

your theroretical top speed, ie driving in a vacuume will go down, your actual top speed will be the same if not higher due to the fact that your car will pull through overdrive better
4.30s in a 5 speed are fine, the t3650s have a .62 5th gear for some reason so they are equal to 4.10s in an auto for 5th gear, gas milage goes down 3 mpg with 4.30s at the most but if you really care about it dont buy a mustang and just go get a honda, these are not economy cars

+1 . Look at the Calculator I created, it shows that the top end drops from 202 mph to 169 mph
at 6300 rpm in over drive geez I don't think I will be hiting the 169 mark anytime soon...
although I did get to 142.

I don't really know. But just think about it this way.
How many times are you going to open your car up on the highway, like 130+? I don't know about you. but me...maybe a couple times a year?
And how many times are you going to be driving under 100, where the real fun is
I mean you can still hit 130+ but it just might not pull as hard with the 4.10's vs 3.55's

ok i keep hearing about this "losing top end" in these 4:10 gears....but i also heard a guy on here said yeah you will lose top end but thats only if you had enough hp to reach that limit....which is much more than we have stock.....with 4:10s ....ok well i was driving home from college last weekend.....and there is a long strip of hwy thats usually pretty deserted, little turns, and distant visibility.....and i hit 150......its the ONLY time ive tried top end speed, but i just wanted to do a little research for myself. And i think4th gearwith these 4:10's onthe highway is insane.

It is a completely and utterly rediculous notion that you would ever "lose top end" acceleration of any kind with lower gearing. They by default increase your torque globally. You mathematically "lose top speed," but considering the car can't nearly go the 205+mph it's geared for stock, I wouldn't even consider that fact.
My rev limit is set at 7000rpm. With 4.30s, if I had the power to get there, I could still easily go 180mph. I don't consider that a drastic loss of top speed at all, and I would never go that fast anyway.
