Another question on tires...
I just bought new wheels and am in the search for tires. I stopped at the local Discount Tire and told the guy that I was looking to put a 295/45/18 on the 10.5" wide wheels in the back. He tells me i'm crazy if I think it will fit. I have other people telling me I can run a 315 on the rear. Can someone shed some like on this little problem i'm having. I want to go as wide as possible without having to do any modifications to the rearend. Thanks in advance.

RE: Another question on tires...
295s would have fit my 10inch rears but I went with 285. If you look on the tire manufacturer's website, they'll usually give you wheel width ranges that certain tires will fit. A friend of mine is running 315s on a 10.5 inch rim and they work nicely.

also that tire size is going to be 28.452" tall. just something to consider. If you are wanting to stay close to the stock tire height. a 295/40/18 is closer.

RE: Another question on tires...
I can't find a 295/40/18, just 295/45 and 295/35. I'd rather have to much than not enough on the side wall, especially in my area. We have some really rough roads hear in Chicago. As for the wheels, they are the correct offset and backspacing for the 2005+ Mustang, unless the guys at stage3motorsports are lying to me. I'm going to test fit the wheels tomorrow to see if they are the right ones.

RE: Another question on tires...
Where so those numbers come from?
295mm x .45(aspect ratio...45% the width of the tire) = 132.75mm
132.75mm / 25.4(mm per inch) = 5.226377953"
5.226377953" x 2(side wall height top and bottom...or left to right) = 10.45275591"
10.45275591 + 18"(rim diameter) = 28.45275591"
That is the mathematics. If not my calculator is smurfed up.
