Default Need rear spoiler adice

Just took delivery of a blk GT/CS and would like to have the spoiler removed. I asked to have the trunk swapped out with another or a v6 that has no spolier. the dealer wasn't having it. They offered to have it removed and holes filled/repainted for $540. Can you guys think of another way to do this. I'd like to just swap it but are there problems with the Siruis Sat or anything else that would prevent that?

My dealer wanted $1000 to fill the holes/paint. I'm just going to leave the exterior alone and work on performance/interior.

$540.00 IS A PRETTY GOOD PRICE, ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A DIFFERENT SPOILER OR JUST HAVE NONE?

No matter how good the shop you will see evidence of a repair after one season. If you can get a dealer to take $300 and a trade (let them do the swap) you will be a big winner.

Try swapping someone with a spoiler delete. You got black right? There are a billion black mustangs out there, since all years had that color option. cheaper than paying to have them filled.

You might try your local salvage yard. They mighthave a totaled black Mustang with a pristine trunk lid.

These are good suggestions. I'll talk to the dealer Monday morning to see if someone who buys a black Mustang wants to trade trunks. I had a thought. Will there be a problem reinsatlling the Sirius sat antenae? Also, my GT/CS has specail rear badging. Does that come off easily?

You have the badging and lock issues and sounds like the sirus as well. These are the things that make a private party swap out of the question. (salvage yard is fine but spoiler deletes and even V6's w/o spoilers are rare so chances of a yard having one in mint shape, in black, sans spoiler are like one in a billion). If you can get a dealer to do the swap for under $400 you win.(can't buy a new one and get it painted right for $400) (try for $300 though) Why dealers continue to order w/o the spoiler delete option and why customers order this way continues to boggle the mind. ...though when I was ordering the 05 (which got cancelled) all the dealers salesguys couldn't understand why I didn't want the "free spoiler". I kept asking them "Do you know why Ford has offered 'spoiler delete'? ...to which they always replied... "no".

...whatever..... the spoiler should have been a $500 option.

Why go through such a hassle? I mean why not order a Mustang without the spoiler in the first place? Or did you want the CS/GT so much? I wouldn't mess with it, my personal recomendation. Gonna kill the resale value when the buyer asks where the spoiler is that came with all Calif. Specials.

This is a good point. I'll keep the spoiler for resale if it's an issue. I'm keeping this car for 100,000 miles at least so it won't matter at that point. Sounds like $540 for repaint isn't all that bad considering I'll be keeping the original trunk and won't have fitment issues. I would have ordered it and factory deleted the trunk but timing was an issue for me. The dealer really wanted my trade and made me a killer dealer on the GT/CS as a result.
