my new Headers
Ok, So I put on my new American Racing Longtube Headers and I'm getting this rattle from hell in the back of the car. I have Mac AB's. To the best I can figure the AB's are hitting the first hanger bracket for the AB's. I've taken one off so far and grinded the heck out of it to give me some more clearance. The Xpipe butts up to the rest of the pipe and actually pushes the exhaust back about a half inch or so. By doing this it pushed the hangers right up to the bracket. Has anyone else run into this issue or and am I just the lucky first one......
Thanks George

I had the same problem and just fixed it yesterday......But the culprit for my rattle was my Borla stingers.....the brackets caused the exhaust piping to hit my sway bar(i think thats what it is) anywayi just bent the brackets up a bit and it doesnt rattle anymore.....hope this helps!
Had the same problem when I installed my off road x pipe. It pushed the mufflers back about 3/4 inch and caused the rear hanger rod on the muffler to contact the rear bumper mounting on the driver side. I took a sawzall and hacked off the end of the hanger. Cured it.
Check your over axle pipes and make sure they aren'thitting anything metallic above or around the axle. There is a black metal tab thats welded to a black pipe, i believe it runs to the gas tank on the drivers side. My over axle pipe on the driver side was touching this metal tab just above or around the axle an caused a rattling sound. I had to loosen the clamp at the mid section and rotated the over axle pipe clockwise just a little and problem was solved. I hope this helps!
I'll have to check that one out tonight. When I drove in this morning the sound wasn't there. I didn't get a chance to drive it last night after grinding the bracket down a little. Started it up in the driveway and didn't here anything. I now have about a half inch on either side. If it starts to rattle again I'll go crazy.... I'm gonna check the spot you mentioned just for peace of mind though.
thanks for the info

One other thing that may or may not help is to put a ratcheting strap or come-along between your X/Hpipe and the subframe somewhere. Tighten it up so that it pulls the X/Hpipe all the way on as far as it will go. You can do this with any of the parts you want to tighten as long as there's somewhere to hook up the ends of the straps. I did this to make sure my Xpipe was all the way on and it gave me a better fit with the hangers and over axles. Just a thought!
No Rattle today !!!!! I guess the grinding down of the brackets is all I needed to do. I'm glad this is all that it took.
Thanks for all the inputs on this issue.
