Default Hurst Shifter Issue???

So I installed my Hurst shifter about a month ago, and love it.The only issue I have with it, maybe its normal, is that when in neutral, it does not spring back to the center between 3rd and 4th. For example, if I am sitting at a stop light and my car is in first gear, and I put it into neutral, the shifter stays toward 1st and 2nd. Is this normal?? Did I over tighten something?? Did I just get a bad shifter?? It also does this if I am in reverse or 5th, but not as bad. Thanks for any help.

When at a stop and placed in neutral the lever should move to the center of the H pattern. Seems like yours dosen't spring to the left. Did it do this from the beginning or did it just start.??

I installed mine about a month ago, and it springs to the middle when in neutral.

If you have the oppotunity, check the tranny linkage that is bolted to the shifter. Dunno, but it may be that the linkage bolt is either mis aligned in the hole the linkage bolt is attached to is on the wrong side. If you still have the instructions you will see what I mean. I had a little trouble getting it all lined up and tightened, but mine does not do what yours does. I'd check that. If thats not the problem, I dont know what to tell you.

Good luck

I think your handle is 180 degrees out. Did you install it with the offset pointing the right way? The spring mechanism is in the tranny itself. I am 99.9% sure that's what you did wrong.

Easy fix - just unbolt the linkage and spin the handle around. (and then spin the ball 180 on the shifter)

My handle is on the passenger side of the car. When I first installed it, I had the handle on the drivers side, and instead of it pointing towards the rear of the car, the shifter was pointing towards the radio. By this, I mean the grooves on the bottom part of the shifter are now pointing towards the passenger side.
