Default SCT LIVEWIRE

Wondring if anyone is using the Livewire?? or can answer some questions regarding it/something like it...

I'm putting on a Saleen SC + the upgrade kit... I am going to have the car custom tuned locally, so the canned tunes are not really the premis behind buying it... but I do have a few questions regarding that as well...

I didn't plan on having any guages installed cause originaly I didn't see any reason to other than the 'cool' factor...but after reading and researching I'm beginning to see guages as a valueable info/safety factor for the engine...

So my questions are this:

1. After having the car custom dyno tuned, can I save that info to the SCT
2. What is involved for the install?
3. After installed, am I correct in saying that it will monitor the key components of a power added engine in real time (much like an analog guage)
4. If I get it preloaded with some 'canned' tunes, and want to try them vs. the custom dyno tune is that as simple as pressing a few buttons to flip-flop between tunes?

1) Yes. In fact, when you get a custom tune, the tune is put on the tuner FIRST. It then goes from your tuner to the car.

2) Plug it in under the dash.

3) Yes, but the bandwidth is much lower than a real analog guage. The "guage" function of the Livewire isn't really practical. It's flashy-showy. A mechanical guage will respond faster and more precisely than the livewire will. Also, part of the benefit of a mechanical guage is that it is indipendant (redundant) of the car's sensors. The Livewire reports only what the ECU reads from it's sensors.

4) Yes, exactly.

Guages are definatley a valuable safety tool on a blown engine. However, part of the reason why is that they are indipendant of the ECU...so even if the ECU or the car's sensors aren't working right, you can still detect a problem and stop the car. That's not the case with the livewire.

Ahh, cool, and thanks CrazyAl...you da man.... so, hmmmm, ummm, welp at least it would be better than no visual guage. I see what your saying though, a "real" guage is like having a second independent back up monitoring system...fail safe kinda deal... where as if one of the sensors on the ECU or the ECU goes haywire I might not know 'till it's too late.... Seems like the Livewire is a 'better than nothing' option but ultimately not the chioce way to go....

But then again it serves as a dual function which is cool.... So relly it's a tuner/flasher forst and foremost with some bells and whistles to monitor what the ECU is reading....

damn...this guy drives me crazy.
CrazyAl dude, I just can't believe it.
Everytime someone asks something this guy knows it all.
I'm beginning to think he's not a real person. He's just an Automated Response Machine.
Not sure where you live man, but I would drive to your place no matter what, to have everything installed/tunned by you.
Kinda freaky I know.
You amaze me every time I see one of your replies. I'm sure you've been told this before countless times.
Hats off. Keep up the fantastic job you're doing and enlighten us from time to time
