Weird Hurst Shifter Question
As you know I installed the Hurst Shifter a couple days ago...
And I may be losing my mind but today I get in the car and the shifter is like an inch off center...
Is it just me or didnt the center line stitch of the boot run down the middle?
Now I get in and it starts in the middle but it looks like the whole shifter was moved an inch to the left...
Almost to the point when I shift into first i hit the left side of the console then force it to go up into 1st...
How can it have shifted that much to the left if its bracketed and braced from underneath?!

well when you installed did you transfer the bushings from the stock to the new hurst shift the one that was on the front of the shifter attaching to the tranny and the one that is on the bottom of the shifter attached to the shifter leaver. The back one was white and the front i dont remember. The bushings do not come in the kit. Second you might have not tightened the back two bolts that attach it to the body of the car well enough and one fell out. So i hope this gives you a few ideas
yup all bushings were transferred over and the chrome stick is on the right side... its weird cuz the day i installed it everything if i remember correctly was lined up right in the middle and it looked mint...
I think I figured out the problem... Those of you who installed it tell me if you think it makes sense....
I took off the boot and realized that the chrome stick was on the left side of the shaft.... so I was gonna take it off but i realized that there is no grooves on the other side to kinda hold it in place while i bolt it in... weird you say? yes unless you have a father like mine who touches everything even though he has no clue what he is doing... and i remember him playing with the shifter the day it came in the mail... i think he spun the shaft around 180 degrees making the grooved side on the drivers side and me not even realizing it just installed it like that...
Does that make sense to anyone before I start rippin everything out to redo it?
p.s. please tell me that red loctite is not impossible to take off!!!

Thanks for the help guys, I readjusted and turned the handle 180degrees into the right position...
And in case anyone was wondering I answered my own question about removing a bolt with red loctite... you need aloooooooooooot of heat.. Over 350degrees to melts the substance... I dont have a blow torch but I took a soldering iron and held it up to the bolt for a long time before it started to release
