DRAG STRIP LAST NIGHT. HELP!
So I went to Island dragway in N.J last night. On motor I ran a 13.5. And 12.9 on the bottle. The problem I have is traction
I have M/T streets and they helped, but man I just can't seem to lay down all of the power. Does anyone have any good tips for rear suspension? I was on Brenspeed's site and was thinking the bmr relocator kit and lower control arms, but is that what I need? or do I need more. Please give me your input based on experience.
Thanks,
Thurman

I'm suprised with all your high priced mods you haven't done some LCA's yet. I haven't tried them at the track yet but on the street they have greatly reduced my hop & spin. If your not lowered you can try the LCA's without the relocation kit as theyshoud sitlevel on a stock height car.
Thurman, you have more motor than suspension. Rear LCA"S, Adjustable UCA and reset pinion angle, I have heard good things about the relocation brackets all though I can't vouch for them personally. Friday night at Island isn't the best for traction and they usually keep street cars from running in the groove so that's not helping you. Get your suspension upgraded and go on a Sunday test and tune. I can run 1.6, 60 foots on Sunday. They have the track prepped good on Sundays, the sun helps the track and there's alot of slick cars laying down rubber. Friday nights are fun for racing a variety of cars, but Sundays are for getting good times. If you hang out till the slick cars are finished running you can get in a few runs in the groove which helps quite a bit.
Maybe I'll see you up there.......................................

Rench, I agree w/ you about friday nights, the track was very slick. Where did u get your susp parts? How much $$$ will I be looking at for parts?
And yes I will see u some sunday soon.

Let me just say I have the same mods as you including cams and the nitrous, but can't use the nitrous yet because of traction issues. On a not really well prepped track at a v6 meet(yes I do have a GT), I was only getting 1.9 60 ft on drag radials which I can normally get on just street tires but the track was getting messed up that day. Either way I ran 12.804 off the bottle with a 1.994 60ft I believe.
I have LCA's, relocation brackets, and panhard, along with a k-member and I still don't get **** for traction. Anyway I recommend the k-member as that helped me most of all from actually getting my car sideways, but instead it kept me in a straight line while shifting into 2nd. I'm still in the process of bettering my suspension but I believe that I just really need slicks if i'm going be running nitrous and especially when I get a blower in the near future.

i agree with the posts above, suspension is a huge must for those who want to run hard at the strip. im not a huge expert on exactly what to do as far as suspension goes. MMFF did a huge article about s197's and getting them to run hard at the strip (Octorber 2006, page 194)
with a C&L CAI and a Diablosport tune, a JPC Chromoly Driveshaft, a front antirolbar/tubular lower radiator support, skinnies and slicks, they got an otherwise completely and utterly bone stock 2006 Mustang GT to run 12.51 @ 108.19 MPH, driving relatively conservatively, no powershifting, etc. on launch, it yanked the front drivers side tire tire a couple inches off the ground.
stock gears, stock rear suspension, stock shocks, stock struts, and the only engine modification, a CAI and tune. 12.51 @ 108.19 MPH.
the point of this article, and the reason im bringing it up, is that massive power is not always the answer, its is the setup of the car, putting all of that power to the ground, etc. having a fast car is a completely different thing than having a fast track car. work on your setup, practice your launches, and done right, i see you running mid 12's off the juice.
