Default 4.0->4.6

found a guy selling a 4.6 with a 5 speed, hurst shifter, and the ECU for about 2 grand. Would it pretty much be a direct swap out for my 4.0 with the exception of exhaust (which i can fab)? is there anything i need to know about this, because i would most be extatic to do this swap, and i have over 2 grand at hand =)

yea ur going to have to rework the suspension, and the rear axle, the brakes, new k-member, ur better off just working on the 6 man to be honest, cuz with the amount of money ur going to put into labor and parts, ur better off putting a supercharger or turbo on it. granted ur getting a V8. i say stick with the six bro, any type of engine swap will be more expencive than adding a blower of some type

i agree. For the cost of everything you are going to need for the 4.6 swap you could throw an 8.8 on your car with a powerhouse turbo setup and run low 12's safely. i mean, one of the ph guys just ran a 12.2 at 11 psi on an auto.... and it seems pretty safe to run that boost on these motors, people are running 12 psi on daily drivers man.

if you're gonna swap anything do it right the first time. Engine swap? something insane like a hurricane cammer. Tranny swap? t-56 or something similar.

to tell you the truth im not going to be messing with the little 6er too much, i just want a 5 spd cause they're fun. i have my 408w fox to go fast in, i dont really need something like a t-56.
