Default winter driving

Well gang, I just traded in an 01 Gt for and 06 Gt. So far I'm very happy. A big question..... How is the 06 in snow, anybody find out? I still have my winter beater, it was a good car and have an offer to sell it. Should I keep it or are the sixes as useless in snow as the 01? Somebody from the north answer this please.

I live in upstate New York, and my '05 V6 is the first rear wheel drive car that I've driven in 15 years.

I put snows on all 4 corners (cheapies too), and it was like a tractor in the snow.

I commute 40 miles a day to work, and it was great...far better than I expected, and I didn't bother to put any weight in the trunk.

While the snows give the car a sinister "Mad Max" look, I can't wait to get street shoes back on it...the road noise is getting a bit old.

Check out this link to a great site for new take-off parts. I got alternate winter rims there for a song.

I live in cleveland, I had an 01 V6 that sucked in the snow, my 07 GT I have only driven it once in the snow from the way home from the dealership, and it was a little beter than the 01, but if you can keep your beater I would, if not there are a lot of guys on here that drive it all year round so it is up to you

I'm from CT. and did good with the stock (V6) tires but I didn't drive over a couple inches of snow. Performance snows (like cop cars) worked good on my 95 in 4 inches. But maybe keep your beater unless your getting alot of money for it. It's not just getting around, it's cleaning. I'd wash my car every 3 days to keep the crap off it.

I live in SD and just bought my car(06 Mustang coupe)in oct of 06. Since we get A LOT of snow up here, i can give you my $.02 worth. I would keep the winter beater. I have driven my car in the snow and when it gets mushy and slushy, I have a hard time getting around with it. Although if that happens, I have a 4X4 to drive and park the mustang in the shop, but I would prefer to drive my car all the time. Right now we have a bout 2-3 inches of snow that just fell yesterday and it is not to bad, just the slushy stuff underneath that it has problems with. Here is a picture of the mustang when it wasn't doing too good in the snow!

i put 4 of the michelin x-ice's on my 07 gt and threw 150lbs of salt/sand in the trunk and didnt have any issues getting around in philly this winter. i think the worst we had was 6 inches of snow this year for what it's worth.

I got a set of stock 17" rims & put Pirelli Snowsport 210's on. They were great. The car went through snow & ice without a slip or skid. Winter tires are a MUST imo if you drive year round.

I live in NY and have an 07 GT 5speed. It's not the best in the snow, the traction control helps a little but I am looking to purchase a car for the winter as well, I drove my mustang in the snow once just to see how it goes and I will not drive my mustang in the snow again.

the mustang GT is very solid and reliable car in the winter. Here in Finland I use nokian wintertires and
also the car is warm and its easy to start even -35 C.
