Demand to see the inoice cause they will order a Japanese fender for $75.00 instead of a $150.00 Ford fender. Also look for the term LKQ, it means like quality which I thought was good like oembut it meansUSED. My wife had a rear bumper replaced on Her SHO & they used a used bumper that you could see sanding marks in, I freaked out on the guy in front of a lot of prospective customers & I think they all left. Be tough on them cause it wasn't your fault & the value of your car will never be the same cause of car fax, you will get less on trade cause of the repairs.

Get a Ford replacement fender(the car's value won't be compromised) and add a California Special front fascia IMO

Go Ford parts and ask to inspect them just before they are installed.
I have seen the ol switcharoo done a time or two. Caught the dealership
not replacing my oil filter this morning when I took it for an oil, filter and lube.
Signed it the night before in big blue sharpy pen. It was still on the car when
they were "done". They stated that the "free complimentary" first oil, filter, lube
does not include the filter. You gotta pay for that. Coulda jap slapped him.
Then after pulling back in, they removed my old filter and spun on a new
one and said "here ya go" all smartass like. I popped the hood again and I was
now a quart low. They did nt top it off after taking a filter thats full of oil off
and putting one on thats empty. WTF??? Oh, yea, my grey interior is now
black wherever the "tech" touched it.

OK, this is where the BS stops...

A fender from Ford retails for $150.
Way cheaper then fixing your mangled one. Juging by yourthe pics, it's about 5 hours LABOR minimum for a qualified shop,to fix your old one.
5hrs x $45 an hour = $225[&:]. You have a new one for $150!! (with your Ford logo stamped on the inside lip BTW).

If a body shop tells you that they rather fix it, then they're dealing cocaine, cause abviously, they don't make money working on cars!

So : NEW FENDER, NO " Ifs" ABOUT IT !

That thread sould be done now...

What's a good way to find out where a body shop is ordering parts from? I'm sure we'd all like to think that they're ordering directly from Ford but how realistic is that? I went to the above posted website (fordpartswebsite.com) and looked up the new door shell that I am getting. MSRP there matches what my body shop is charging my insurance ($674.60) but they or I could buy it from that website for $526.19. How do I know they aren't? Or should I care? I'm also having them do a bit of work outside the insurance claim (paint/install hood scoop) and for what they're saving on the price of the door could cover some of my extra....I'd like to use that in my negotiations for what I'll end up paying for my add'l work. Tips? Suggestions?

Nothing wrong with negotiating.
Tell the shop that you know what's up. Wholesale prices are for businesses and Ford employeesin general.
A good shop souldn't have problems playing with number to your advantage. But since we're underpaid ($40 an hour vs 65 for mechanic), don't expect them to give you that door for the wholesale price. I wouldn't.

Sometimes, I manage to get an perfect used part in order to save the customer a few bucks. Even with my mark-up, I end up being cheaper than new. I'll call the customer to show him the quality of the item and upon hissatisfaction, I'll slap it on the car.

Good luck man.

I do alot of bodywork and painting, Replace the fender with a Ford geniune part. After market fenders rarely fit perfect, and are make of thinner gauge material. The insurance company is going to want you to get an aftermarket or a used fender and front bumper cover, INSIST on only Ford NEW parts. Your car wasn't full of used parts when you bought it. Ihave a teenage boy, so I'vehad to deal with insurance people more than once....... [:@] lol.
