void warrenty?
hey, my mom has a mineral gray '05 GT with the 5 speed manual transmission. the car is stock minus the Cervinis Eleanor Bodykit with the magnaflow side exhaust.
I wanted to know if a CAI, shorty headers, and a short thow shifter will void out the car's warranty. I know with a CAI and the headers the engine will need a custom tune. so this is why i am asking...
also, Ford refuses to touch the car (becuase of the body kit), it was one of the cars with the faulty e-brake cable...we called 3 different dealerships, Ford's central office, and they wont touch the car. the even refuse to let a certified outside party fix the fauly cable. (my mom carries a wheel chock around with her,) though she barely drives the car now due to the problem... one of the dealerships even blamed the body kit, which iswhen I got on the phone and had an unpleasant convorsation with the technitian who obviously didnt know the difference between an oil filter and a lugnut...

You've got to keep looking for a dealer to help you out. It took me three dealers to find a service manager that was honest and straight up with me. I know exactly what I can and cannot do with my Mustang now. He will even work with me on the questionable stuff. This is a dealer that is located in a very small town about 40 minutes from where I live. Maybe you should search for something like that- a small town dealer that still lives and deals with its customers.
[sm=WTFsgign.gif]the bodykit made the warranty void???
from what ive heard is that the dealerships cannot do that and they have to fix your car or give you a GOOD reason why one of your mods made that part break...dont think a bodykit will make the e-brake cable break[>:]that technician was about smart

no, the warrenty is still there, has the 5 year X amount of miles deal... the guy on the phone said they wont fix it because of the kit since I wasnt "ford installed" they are complete toolbags, thinking a urethane bumper kit would rust out a cable that is exposed under the car..[&:]
I didnt show them the TSB beacause they already know of the recall (worked on 3 other stangs to fix it) they are just being a pain because of the body kit... they claim that they cannot jack the car up because of the kit...[&:] load of carp...
if they void out the warrenty beacause of that, then we'll take it to court... then my mom will be driving the white GT500 with blue lemans stripes they have sitting in their showroom[8D]

You aren't going to win this one. You will have to take it up with FORD themselves about a dealer not doing the work. The dealer can easily deny the work and get away with it cause it doesn't hurt them at all unless you take it higher up. I would just check some other dealers within 50 miles or whatever. They are protecting their butts though since you do have a body kit which does ride awful low. The side exhaust probably does interfere with some of their equipment also. I know with mine lowered I would have to be careful about the places I might take it to. Good luck to you!

in this cause theres no way a body kit could cause the e brake cables to be defective.
Do a search for the Magnuson Moss Act. It very clearly explains what the dealer has to do to refuse warrenty work.
The general gist of it, is that before a dealer can refuse ANY warrenty work, they have the burden of proving that the modification you made to the car DIRECTLY caused the failure of the part. IF they can prove this, then the warrenty on THAT (and only that part) part is void, but not on the whole vehicle.
Ideally, I would just try to find a dealership that will work with ya. However, failing that, walk into a Ford dealership and tell them to fix the damn cable. When they refuse, have a copy of the M-M act printed in hand and have Fords Regional Corperate office and the Phone number to a Law Firm on speeddial on your phone and make sure you let the Service manager know. Let them know your not going to roll over and I garentee that you'll get some results.

+1 for the magnuson moss act. it's true that the bigger dealers of any car makewill try to stiff you out of your warranty for the stupidest things if you're not smart. it's to much about the money. some of them know very well about the magnuson moss act, they just try to get out of paying for stuff if even the littlest thing is modified. the most bizzare thing i've heard was a dealer refusing to service a car that had aftermarket wheels. this was a few years ago, but that's just strange.
