20" Wheels Causing Steering Wheel Shake
I hate to say it but it could be that the wheel is not ballanced properly or that you have a small dent on either the inside or outside of the wheel. This would both cause it to shake.
vphokie: not to pry, but any reason you don't want to/can't do it yourself? if so, ok. if not, it's super easy. just jack it up like you're changing a tire [or use hydraulic jack] and clip them off with some sort of wire cutters, snips, whatever works! that's all i did. good luck.
No real reason, just didnt want to mess around with jacking it myself. I'll probably take it to a tire place right down the road. I got lifetime balancing with them so I'll just tell them to "balance" them and check then [8D]Maybe I'll ask them to check for dents too. Thanks.
this and what ellburito said sounds like the answer for you!

I've got your answer!! It may sound silly, but I had the same problem and found an answer on here. Remove the clips that hold the rotors on. When the car is on the factory floor, they put a little clip on one of the studs to keep the rotor from falling off while they get the pads on there. There's another thread on here and I'll get you a link to it. I just did it Saturday and it nearly eliminated my higher speed shimmy with my newly mounted 20s.

If the clip thing does not work, have them batch balanced. If that does not work, have them road force balanced. 20's should ride a litle harsher absent the extra rubber underneath, but teh shimmy sounds like a balance problem.
Sigh. If it isn't one thing, it's another. So I was busy all day today and didn't get to take the car in, so I figured I'd check myself to see if the clips were installed still. Well first of all, it's kind of a pain in the a$$ to get the jack out. Second, the lug wrench is too big to fit onto the lug nuts. Grrrrrrrrr........................
One of my friends has 20's on his GT and it ride's great... Littel stiffer than mine but his looks liek the ****... If the clips don't work have the tire shop sort it out....
Thank You to everyone who offered their opinions and advise. It was indeed a clip issue. There is no more wheel shake and I'm extremely pleased.
Now that issue is fixed, I have purchased somd mods from Brenspeed.
- Steeda Underdrive Pulleys
- Steeda Ultra Light Lowering Springs
- Steeda G-Trac Brace
- Tokico D-Spec Shocks & Struts
Once these are installed, I'll be going for a Cold Air Intake and a Tuner from Brenspeed or Bama.
