Default 07' or 08'

Alright, where to begin.

As some of you may remember, I started here maybe a month ago tlaking abouthow excited I was about getting my new Stang and really making my dream a reality. Well, after all this time, I've realized that all the dealers in my area are insanely greedy and really don't care about anyone but themselves. On Friday I decided to try out a service that my credit Union offers for buying new cars that basically takes all the deal making and the negotiating away from me. They do everything for you except pick out what you want in the car.

I've read up on the company and went to see a presentation about it and it seemed like a great was to accomplish what I want. Anyway, I got in touch with them on Friday and by yesterday they have a quote under 30K for a GT vert with options and a deadline.

Apparently, today, 4/25/07 is the last day Ford is accepting orders for brand new 07' models. Talk about cutting it close right?

Now, after talking with the gentleman that is helping me through the company, I started to think. He is awaiting my call before doing anything and I had to get some fast info here before making my decision even though my mind is almost made up.

May 17th is the first day that Ford will be taking orders for brand new 08' models. If I wait 22 days, my new beauty will have a label saying 08', "gaining" an entire year back in the depreciation department. My Redfire won't be available anymore but I can live with that. I mean, I'm thinking that if I order the 07' now, it would be one of the last bunch produced for the year. Even if I get it in June, anyone looking at it in the future IF I ever had or wanted to sell it It would be a whole year older. Not good.

Anyone have any thoughts on my logic here?

Anyhting is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

I am in the same situation as you. I was told that the last day to order the 2007 was 4/30/2007. If you order the 2007 you will qualify for the rebates (1000 + 645 = 1,645) which are good until 7/2/2007. Ifordered today you should get your car by 7/2/2007. If you order a 08 you will not get the rebates and I was told that there will be no discounts at all. So do you order an 07 which I can get an GT premium with a MRSP of $29,675 with my options. I can get the ordered 07 for Invoice 27,735 - 1,645 = $26,090. So good question what should we do 07 or 08. 07 and I can save approx $3,500 and one year old or 08 and ??

Any input would help.

Do what you feel is best for you. 07 rebates are attractive, and save you some $. Having an '08 is a great option also. But, remember NO ONE can tell if it is an 05 or 08, unless itsa CS or Shelby

It will probably be a while before you could buy an 08 for the price they are offering you on the 07, the main question you have to answer is, how soon will you trade?

Now this is just my personal opinion, but i am seeing 05/06 GT's going for low to mid 20's in my area with only like 5K miles on them. If you plan on keeping this car awhile, who cares about depreciation? (Especially if you mod it!)

Then again, if you opt for an '08, you might be the first to get a Dark Candy Apple Red Metallic stang! Or whatever that Vapor Metallic color is. As well as getting new '08 options such as ambient lighting (whatever that is) and HID's.

Wait for the '08. That only makes sense IMO.

U are just gonna go crazy reading these forums about people modding their cars and driving it in the summer and enjoying them if you go with the '08.... I say get the stang as fast as possible with everything u want on it and start enjoying it... plus with the money u save with the rebates u can buy a whole mess of goodies to put on for when your car is ready for pick up...
1 year depreciation in the long run with cars that are basically the same as the 05's-08's are will not be worth the wait...

Analysis paralysis...

If you aren't interested in any of the '08 options, just get the '07 and enjoy.
