Supercharger Discussion
I am seriously thinking about purchasing a supercharger kit for my 2005 mustang. I am looking for optimal horsepower and dont want to blow the engine in the long run. I have a couple concerns and questions that I would like to get some response on from some of you guys and gals that are more informed than me on the subject.
1. Debate between Centrifugal or Twin Screw
I am torn between going with a procharger centrifugal setup or a kenne bell setup. If I have long tubes, and full exhaust will the kenne bell give me too much bottom end? What is the upkeep on either system? I am not concerned with how it looks under the hood as much as I concerned with creating a safe and powerful setup. If any of you would like to share their optimal setup dreams with me I would love to hear about what you would do if money wasn't an option.
Does centrifugal have siginificant lag at lower RPM?
Do twin screw setups make first gear practically useless?
How do these systems hold up?
Lastly, let me know how big the grin on your face was once you hit the pedal for the first time after the install.
2. Looking for 500+HP, will I need to replace the pistons and rods? What other internals do I need to upgrade?
The plan as of now is to go with a Kenne Bell kit. Im looking to hit 500HP but I have heard that the pistons and rods dont hold up. If this is true what swap should I make. Can you give me any suggestions for the right parts to go with.
Overall I want to create the safest and most reliable setup I can. I would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Of course people have opinions on the subject.......but they're tired of giving them on every brand new supercharger thread that is started on a daily basis.
Search supercharger and you'll get more thread links than you can read in a weekend.

The budget is 10,000.00. I would apreciate if you could hook me up with some good info.
And I apologize to all those people that are tired of seeing supercharger threads. I understand, but if you dont want to share your knowledge than dont.

it looks like you've already done some pretty
good research and know what you want.....
500 + hp
You know already that you will want to go
with forged internals.....
the only question left for you really, is how you're
gonna create the boost......
if i were going forged, i would go twin turbo.....

I'm going with a Roush Stage 3 ROUSHcharger Complete Supercharger Kit olny 5psi so it is easy on the engine. Roush also cover warrenty loss for three years. price $5,699.99 adds 125 hp. about six hours to install. here is a link. I think it looks nice as well.http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-roushcharger-supercharger-kit.html
Yea thr roush is definately an option. The boost is low which definately makes it easy on the engine, but I was hoping to be able to run a bit more boost with stronger internals. Basically I am looking for the safest way to run about 10 + boost psi but at the same time I am looking for any options. So thanks for the idea.

Alright. Twin Screw will be more than Centi of course. Assuming you have to pay to have it install and tuned etc. You can figure 4000k-5500k for the kits, install will cost you another 800-1500 depending on your shop. Now your at 5k-7k. Custom Dyno Tuning will run you 400-700 now your at 5.5k to close to 8k with Install and tuning. Then you got gauges and install so another 250-500 depending on type of gauges, so lets say for the low side of it you spend close to 6800-7200k for everything including install and tune. That leaves you with 2800-3200k for internal upgrade. I just dont think you are going to have enough. Do you want 500 crank hp or 500rwhp? 500 crank you would not need to do any upgrade of the internals (assuming you have a good tuner, get a crappy one and it wont matter!) 500 rwhp, now your talking danger zone and IMO not safe regardless of your tune. So you will need internals. I'm going with a complete stroker kit for my car so I am paying alot more than just upgrading the internals so I cant give you exact price but I assume it would be more than 2800-3200k so you maybe over budget, assuming you want 500rwhp you will be spending more. also once your at 500rwhp, you got to upgrade the fuel system (stock pump should be replaced around 400-450rwhp), then you might want to upgrade those crappy brakes that come stock, cause your going to want to stop as fast as you speed up
. There are other things you are going to want to upgrade IMO to do it right the first time, you want the 500rwhp to be streetable, at least i would think so.Tranny might be another upgradesince you may want more down the roadand the tranny will be a week link once you start to put down 600rwhp!the clutch and flywheel will need to be upgraded for sure. I dont mind answer any questions, because when i first started I asked alot and some helped and some said check the search button. My budget was orginally around 10k! Well needless to say I a little over 7k in it already and havent touched the Engine Internals,BRakes,Tranny,Clutch/Flywheel etc. Once I am done I will have about 15-20k for my goal of 550-600 rwhp!

A good singel turbo with a little N20 is just as good or better IMO. The N20 to spool up the turbo. also having a staged boost controller is great to so you dont spend right off the line with 15-20 psi!lol
