Default Shift Stops ???

Quick question... Has anyone that installed the MGW shifter installed the shift stops with it? Is it worth it or needed? MGW has a warning with the shift stops that say it may cause damage if not installed properly so I'm wondering why install them?
Thanks
Gman

George,
I installed them during the original installation of the shifter, since they were basically included with all the beta test shifters. I did however, note the same warning you note. When I changed the centering springs a few weeks ago, I left the shift stops off. (not purposely, admittedly, but did not want to peel the dust boot and sound pad back off....)

My car never sees the track, and I think maybe the shift stops can lead to a bit of false sense of security. For me, there is no notable difference with or without. If I was running at the track on a regular basis, I would probably use them. For me, for street use, really no need that I can see. The shifter is so accurate, can't see missing a shift anyway.... Under heavy shifting, I have yet to feel the urge to over muscle with this shifter.....

Thanks Mike that's what I was thinking. My car never sees the track either so I'm gonna go without. Planning on installing this weekend... I'll let you know how it goes.

I have kept up with the info on this shifter from the beginning. I have read over and over that George says the stop kit is NOT necessary, and even recommends against using it. The 3650 tranny has internal stops already. I think he designed the stops for anybody that just HAD to have them. I didn't even unwrap mine. I can tell you, you will love this shifter. I am having the issue with the plastic bushings, where it gets stiff when it is hot-but George will be sending out the replacement bushings very soon. I love my MGW!
