i no alot about cars, but i am used to my 92 5.0. i could just slap on a cai and be done. i have a 2006 gt and wanna run a cai (thinking BBK but not sure) and i know i have to tune it (thinking of either diablo or x2 tuners) but people are tellin me to get either a **** tune or a brenspeed tune. is this where they just custom tune my car for me? does it make a big difference? would a cai and tuner like diablo or xcal2 work or do i need a custom tune?

If a cai and tune (without custom tune) work, how hard is it to tune your own car with a xcal2 or diablo????

 

the custom tune is so worth it... if you have a good tuner near you I so recomend it..... My tunner got a extra 40-45 hp out of my Vortech fro the canned tune. As far as SCT or Diablo go with what your dyno tuner uses... SCT seems to be more popular these days..

 

The preloaded tunes, ie Evo, Brenspeed etc. are customized to your cars ECU, and configuration. I have read that the can tunes are not to good. For $525 I received a JLT II intake and 3 custom tunes from Evo along with 2 pulls when I am in the area of his shop. I waited until my warranty was up before unstalling the CAI, and now I wish I would have installed it sooner. Huge difference in the way it drives and even better mileage on the highway.

 

buy the tuner CAI combo from one of the tuner shops and they will give you 3 tunes to match your mods. install the CAI then download the tune from the SCT or diablo and you are done. The whole install is about 1 hour. Good luck and have fun
