Default Possible tune problem?

Lately Ive been getting horrible gas mileage. Now Im not one to complain about mileage, because I bought a sports car not an econobox, but its just getting ridiculous lately.... I used to get 20-22 mpg, with mixed driving, and that included me getting on it and having fun at times as well. But for the last 5 or 6 fill ups Ive been getting around 12-14 mpg, and thats driving like a granny.... could my tune be so rich that Im losing massive amounts of fuel through the exhaust and getting horrible mileage or should I be looking for other problems like a possible fuel leak or something? Im getting all my mpg info from the computer, and while I know its not perfectly accurate, I find it hard to believe that it could just be 10 mpg off. I also reset it every time I fill up. Any info is appreciated, and asap too. Thanks.

Why don't you try getting rid of the "tune" for a couple weeks and see if it returns to normal. I guess just disconnecting the battery does it but I'm not sure. My mpg on the Message Center is accurate.
If it is that rich your bound to mess up the O2 sensors etc.

Could also be ethanol. I heard they started putting more in the gas now. And never use E85.

Ethanol = bad gas mileage

Fill up your tank.

Hit the highway.

Watch the highway mile markers.

When youpass 100 get off the highway and tank up.

You will either use 5 gallons or 10.

Computer is probably off kilter.

Yep Ethanol sucks ***. We have it here in California. The really stupid part about it is supposedly it runs a little cleaner than the normal gas yet the mileage is way off so you actually end up using more gas than you would if you used the normal version of gas . So I ask what is the benefit if i burn twice as much gas?? Stupid environmentalists.

How many miles are on your car? Your Oxygen sensor may need replacing and I would also try cleaning the MAF and the Air filter. If you have over 30k then have the upstream o2's replaced these are like tune up items. However my guess is you have a contaminated MAF. Go to the store and buy a can of the CRC MAF cleaner then remove the MAF from the air filter housing and simply spray the wire inside. Let it dry and then reinstall.

Thanks guys, Ill try some of this stuff.

Unfortunately I cant return my car to stock for long because my tire size is different then stock and my speedo will be way off, and the miles on the car will be incorrect.

It could be a dirty air filter, but I have a C&L intake, so can I clean that one or do I have to just buy a new one?

My car has about 15k on it.

And no, its not ethanol, I live in Fl and use premium.
