Default Fender emblems

Hey everyone ... I'm gonna replace my fender emblem soon; I understand that there are two holes behind the emblem on each side - should I worry about rust protecting the edges of the holes, or just glue the replacement emblem on? TIA

use the holes to line up the new badges, but you dont really need them.
