Default new Stang!

Hey, traded in my '02GT & got an '05GT...what a difference in handeling & performance.....only prob is it's a automatic...Now the wifey can drive it, or so she says. I so miss being in control of the car. I have chrome bullitts on the way along with new rubber. The only problem is she's so damn quiet...lol, hardly makes a peep. I'm used to the o/r x & packs. A few buds of mine said the autos are alot quieter than 5spds, is that true, or are they yankin' my chain. I have no clue, I thought the exhaust system was the same in the cars. I am considering the Mac axleback. I called a Mustang shop & they said that is mostly what they install...nice sound to them. What do you guys advise??????? Thanks.

congrats... time to change the sig!!

I love the Corsa's but from you comments they maybe too quiet for you...... I'd just warn you that a lot of the aftermarket axlebacks for the S197 have drone issues around 1800-2000 rpm. I had a magnapack first and could not stand it......there are tons of sound clips on youtube and mustangexhaust.com.... have a listen to get an idea.

Thanks...nice stang stkjock, love the color. Yah I've been listening to various clips, but I love it loud...lol. The mac's sound awesome to me, but is an auto any different than manual in sound??? I keep hearing things about it.

I cant see how they would be w/ aftermarket parts.... there is some info floating out there that the stock mufflers are different on the autos. I read it once or twice but have no definative answer. there is a kid in a local club who's s197 has an o/r pipe and x-pipe and slp loudmouths and the damn thing sets off car and store alarms when he hits hit!!! CRAZY LOUD! from what I've read the SLPs seems to be the loudest as they are pretty much a straight pipe.

There is a guy in my town with a vista blue GT...sounds amazing. Asked him his set up & he has a custom made x pipe & straight thru pipe to the tips & no mufflers....4" chrome tips. I thought I didn't see any mufflers on it, now I know why. God it sounds wonderful tho. Thanks for the replies Stkjock.

FRPP stingers make the car much louder, however, they do have a drone as previously stated. However, if you're planning on a gear change, then don't worry about it. The increased RPM will put you out of the drone range for most situations.

Also, don't use the factory fastners to attach the exahust, use U shaped clamps instead, that also reduces drone a little bit.

Thanks for the info guys...it helps out quite a bit. Eddy thanks for the sound clip sounds 10,000x better than what is on the car now. I think I'll go with the Mac axleback's. Thanks again everyone.

Be very careful in these cars when it comes to drone... They can really resonate.

I like the SLPs beacuse theyre straight thrus and have no drone... And sound mean.

In my opinion, you might want to try the o/r x pipe or something with the stock mufflers because that can get pretty loud and won't drone since the mufflers are stock... Then go from there.

+1 on the drone.

I'm an old guy and the drone didn't bother me but it is there.................
