Floor Jacks
What are you do it yourselfers with lowered s197's using for floor jacks these days?
Craftsman has one thats low profile but it's a4 ton jack and I'm not sure I need that much jack but wonder if I need the low profile since my car is lowered about 1.5" |

Do an online search for "race jack" and you'll get plenty of choices.

Try your local Costco. Low profile, aluminum, fast double pump, chromed & polished, looks like it costs $400.00 but is only $99.00

and how about some photos of the jack points?
I'm getting the brake caliper paint soon and will need to jack my GT up. Have heard horror stories about jacking in the wrong place. |

I jack up the car in the front on the A- arms and the back on the rear diff (careful not to bend diff cover) or the rear axle itself on either side of the diff. I know I will get crap for saying on the rear diff but it is flat and wide and very easy to stay from the diff cover. You can put jack stands anywhere on the rear axle or anywhere along the frame rails that run the length of the car on each side. Works for me and no problems at all! JMO J

I drive up on 2 2x6s nailed together and cut on an angle to
get it up high enough to get the floor jack I now have under it. I removed the contact plate from the jack and made an aluminum plate that has a pin on it that fits into a hole on the front frame. This has rubber on it to prevent scratching. In the rear I replace the stock jack plate and use the axle tubes. The diff housing is not strong enough and it will bend somewhat causing leaks from the diff cover. |

I currently have a low profile race jack and it is still a pain to use.But this jack is going to be my next purchase http://www.atdtools.com/showitem.php?item_id=7325 although it is heavy as sh**.

Damage to the differential housing and cover may occur." |
