cam swap
Want to go with crane cams' stage II set and their springs and steel retainers, do you need a retune with these and is just the cams and springs the only thing that can be swapped at one time or would I need new heads, crankshaft, CAI, etc.?
PS: By the way I'm on stock motor and all I've done is magnapack exhaust...also its a v-8

Pretty sure you will need a tune, and even if you dont its probably a good idea to get one. I would also change other related parts too. I dont know why your doing this as a second mod, your not going to see gainsthat you expect to see for the grand total of this all.
What other parts would you change too? The reason I got interested in this is I read a write up in muscle mustangs and fast fords and they gained 35 rwhp with a cam, spring, and retainer swap, then a tune
I thinkyou should get LT's,C&L Racer, and Charge Motion Delete Plates first to open up the airwayswhich will helpsupport the air supply the cams need. Without these mods, cams will not give as substantial gains. Someone on these forums installed cams. They had a regular c&l intake, shorties, and x-pipe before cams. Since that person didn't have LT's,Big CAI,and cmdp's,he only got 27hp from the cams.
With all the parts you need to get the cams working as they should ... it will be like 3,500 - 4K dlls and IMO its damn insane expensive. it will be around 10hp/100 dlls.
For 4K dlls i rather get a supercharger. 3X more hp gained.

I have ordered the crower stage 2 cam which is more like comp cams stage 3 but more exhaust lift and duration, I am hoping to get 30 or so more horsepower with them and since I have a 4,000 stall losing a little down low shouldnt hurt me. good luck if you get them and I will be posting after mine are installed. as far as your question, cam, springs and retainers are all you need to change, but I would definately have a dyno tune on it. I had mine tuned and they were able to pull an extra 22 horse out of it in just a matter of minutes, and you know your air/fuel ratio is where it needs to be.
I've heard by many people that cams have given 30+rwhp on 3v's. Most people usually have atleast exhaust (not full) and an intake/tune. With intake/tune, exhaust, midpipe and comp cams, most people are seeing 320-330rwhp.
