The options for decent drag tires at 18" are still limited, although Mickey Thompson finally lists 18" tires on their website. Currently, Nitto, BF Goodrich and a few others have some tires at 18", butI'm not sure your stock wheels are wide enough, and reports appear to vary on how well they perform. Plus, theyseem pretty expensive to me.

I finally tossed in the towel, and used my OEM 17x8" wheels and put 255s up front and the 275 series 17" Mickey Thompson 17" ET Street tires on the back. I'm going to the track on the 10th, will swap off my street tires and wheels, and will get a feel for how well the MTsdo...

the best for 1/4 mile is 15" so you can get more sidewall. Bogart makes nice 15" wheels that fit the mustang and will clear the brake calipers. that is what I have on mine fitted with the 325/50/15 and with a little bit of heat even on a poorly prepped track they hook good and I havent done any suspension work yet other than eibach springs on the back to reduce the rake that i had with the 28's on rear and 26's on front.

No offense man, but you are not very modded. If you cant hook with your mods (roughly 290 rwhp) it's not your tires. I dont mean to flame (seriously i dont) but you should have no problem hooking. Yeah a drag radial will make u launch harder, but not worth it in your situation imho. But if you must, nitto 555r's will fit.

I was planning on putting some mickeys on my stock 17's since i burnt out my nitto 305's so quick. On their site it says that the 275 series minimum requierment for a rim is 9 inches......do you have ANY issues running the 275 on there? If you dont ill get a pair of those instead of the 245's.

BFG made a 265/40/18 if you can find them around...
they were discontinued them in march
I just put them on last week so I dont have experience yet... Monday I'll be at the track to really see. All that I've read said the BFG DRs hook well but dont last too long

If yo're going to keep the stock 18's you're limited in your options, I went with 275/35/18 BFG drag radials, they hook great but are a bit on the short side sidewall wise.
