Default Extended Maintenance Plan

Hey all.

When i bought the car, I also got the maintenance plan with it. 35k/36 month. I got my first oil change at around 4.2k miles, and the tech put on the sticker to come back 3 months later, or at 9.4k miles.

So here I am, 3 months later, only at 8.8k miles. I go in and ask for the service, and they tell me they can only do 7 services with the plan, and if I use the 7 before the 35k/36mon agreement, they still wont do the service. This wasnt really explained when I bought it. Anyone know these service plans pretty well, and can comfirm this?

The manual says every 5K so that is how they get 7 changes....just change the oil yourself and save yourself the hassle.

I don't know much about your plan, but per the owners manual and service guide you only need to change your oil every 5,000 miles or 6 months. 3 months or 3,000 miles is the heavy duty schedule and almost no does that outside of livery, police, etc. Seven oil changes will definitely last you the 36,000 mile period of your warranty. Check it if you don't believe me.

Oil change places, including dealers always recommend the shortage oil change period. They make a lot more money that way. I've always followed my owners manual on my Ford vehicles and I've never had a problem.

I've you're really scared, then get whomever you use to change your oil to pull some for an oil sample. It's not that expensive to have it tested. All you do is order the kit from a lab, they'll send you everything you need and then you mail it back. No problem.

I'm hoping you mean thousand instead of kilometers!
Yes, you need to be closer to 10,000 miles for that oil change. They explained that pretty clearly when I bought my plan.
Why go in with 1200 miles left before you have to??? If you're worried about oil quality, or if you do lots of dirty driving, then I would suggest changing your oil every 2500 miles. You do one, then let the dealer do the next.
