Default BBK CAI with factory tune.

I just installed my first mod on my 06 GT...BBK CAI. I was wondering, with a factory tune...how much MPG increase would I see. In town/Hwy.

none. Without a tune you will still be dumping the same amount of fuel, jjust more air, which in case will lean you out and be very bad for your engine.

It's my first week with my BBK and tune and I'm still getting 18.5 with 91 with my first tank used. I was at 21 with 87. The car def seems to get better with time after a new mod is added. I'm sure the mpg will go up slightly if I can learn to stay off the pedal some.. [&:]

Ahh. I glanced at a side note similar to that on the paper work but I didnt pay attention to it. It just said to use a higher octane. That's odd because all of my buddies run their CAI on a factory tune. Ill probably look to get a tune after I do my exhaust. I wish I had the predator. =[ There wasnt really too much of a warning about leaning without a tune.

A guy at work dropped in the BBK with no tune and he said he's seeing something in the 2mpg increase range.

Well it will lean it out a bit, but these cars are pretty rich from the factory. You will be ok,just on the safe side of a thin safe/bad line. Get a tune though to perfect it

For about the same money as an exhaust, get the tune instead. A new axleback exhaust won't really do a whole lot of good at freeing up HP, but the tune will. You're looking at 1 - 2 more HP just doing the exhaust, but 18 - 20 more HP with a good tune. If cost is an issue right now, go with the tune first. You won't be sorry!
