On the auto dimming rear view mirror, is there supposed to be a green LED light lit when it's on? Or, is the compass button the only thing that should light up at night? I let my father drive the car last week and now something seems different about the mirror? Is it possible to turn off the auto dim function?

 

Do you have the option (factory) or accessory rear view mirror? Does it have Homelink on it?

 

It's the factory option made by Gentex (I think). Just a mirro with compass on the upper right portion and a button on the bottom middle to turn the compass on/off. But, I thought that I used to have an LED light up just the right of the compass button???

 

I have the accs mirror w/Homelink. That has a button to turn the compass off also. I think the LED is on when the mirror autodims. I have the autodimming mirror (factory) on a Ford 500, and Freestyle. The only way to turn off the autodimming on those mirrors is to unplug the power from the back of the mirror, or pull the fuse. I don't think there is an on/off on the factory installed AutoDim mirror. There is not on a 500, Freestyle, or my friends Exporers.

 

That button and LED turns on-off the Autolamp feature on my Escape. It's the factory installed autodimming mirror.
