When is the best time to reset the gas mileage readout?
I noticed that if I reset it while driving down the highway that it tells me I'm getting 30 miles to the gallon. That can't be right.

When is the best time to reset it? Depends on what you want to measure. If you want to see what your gas mileage is on the freeway, reset it once you get on the freeway. But if you want to see what you average during typical driving, reset it occasionally, maybe when you get gas Or maybe once a month. But don't pay much attention to it right after you reset it. Wait a while. For the first few minutes it will be a small sample that's not really representative of your driving.

RE: 2007 Gas Mileage
07GT 5sp 3:31's I routinely get 25 top down 26-27 top up. I drive 110 miles a day mostly highway 60-65. Lowest was 22 while having fun on a twisting road for 35 miles. As evidenced by my 18k miles on her now I drive mostly highway. I once did 55 mph for 25 miles and got 30. Too slow though.
Car has also never seen past 4500 rpm. I guess you could say sedentary then. Also does best on 89 octane with stock tune so far.

RE: 2007 Gas Mileage
If the trip odometer and all those readings are correct, I get 16.5mpg. I really didnt think I did that bad and I usually cruise in 5th gear at like 45mph. I think my Wife drives alittle crazy and just dont tell me, oh well.

RE: 2007 Gas Mileage
I get the highest mileage!
of course, when I'm NOT going downhill for many miles my mileage is lower than most of the ones I see here.
I'm wondering if it's because of 2 differences which can effect mpg.
First, here in California when you travel most long distances you'll have hills to climb and decend. No long flat roads here.
Then you have the fact that people drive fast here! Coming back from Las Vegas today I tried taking it easy, as oppossed to the drive there, when I would have enough room to occasionally hit 100+. With all the traffic I tried staying in the #2 lane and then pass slower traffic and get back into that lane. But you really have to accellerate to pass when the guy is going 70 and the people in the #1 lane are all going over 80! So that hurts mpg. But anyway I managed to squeak out 22.7 mpg for the drive back of about 290 miles, which included over 1/2 an hour in stop & go traffic. The back up into Vegas was at least 40 miles! Never drive there on a Friday afternoon!

RE: 2007 Gas Mileage
I sure see a wide variation in gas mileage with that question. We don't presently have a Mustang but would like one. At least most of the comments give more than the 16 mpg that I get with my daily driver pickup. I just get tired of buying gas at todays prices, although it's not as high in Michigan as some of the other states. We are currently at $2.96 as of yesterday. Been dropping for some unknown reason.
