Default Radar Detector

Alright everyone, the arrival date of the 21st is coming in just a couple days now! I'm so freaking excited to get my new car.

Quick question though. I have read the forums for a while and the one about someone who got a ticket scared me a little. I mean, I'm not intending on driving it like a complete idiot... but we all have our moments.

I'm wondering if anyone has any input on what kind of radar detector is the best. I'm going to have a Vert so with the top down I can't have something to visible. Can anyone help me out with a starting point? I've got nothing to go on yet forwhat brands are reliable.

Thanks in advance!

haha - I literally just ordered a Passport 8500 X50 not two hours ago. It should arrive on Friday. I'll try to remember to get back on here after this weekend and let you know how it does.

Just looked up the passport 8500 on Crutchfield. Looks compact like I want, but that cord that goes to the cig lighter is a dead giveaway.... Is there any way to hide that? Or are there ones that run on batteries?

Hey brended,
If you don't mind my asking, where (how) do you mount your Passport? I was already thinking I'd like it in a place where I could quickly (and stealthily) take it down. Oh, and I have a convertible.

And apologies to K20J03K - I'm not trying to hijack your thread!
