Track Friday night
Ok guys Im going to Firebird Int Raceway either this Friday or Sat night. I wanted to know a few things first, since this will be my first time at the track. What should I know as far as the setup on my vehicle (ex lower tire pressure, stiffen up rear shocks)? And they say I need a helmet if your under 13.99. How do they know this until you run? Any information would be great since I want to take on some rice and dont want to loose.
Any tips would be great since It is summer in Phoenix and will be HOT.

Like the above poster stated, you can get the first run in without the helmet, but I would bring one just in case and have it ready.
I would take out the spare tire, jack, and all loose things out of the car, will help shave weight and you don't want anything loose rolling around the car.
Play around with your launches in regards to tire pressure in the rear. If you are rolling on 20's they will slow you down a bit. The first time out don't expect to set the world on fire, just have fun!
As you get used to it, you will want to take mental notes on how lowering tire pressure helps with launches to find the sweet spot, as well as what rpms to launch, what your rpms are through the traps, etc... These will all help you dial the car in as you gain more experience.

Well I dont think I will be going since they say you need a helmet below 13.99. I have a motorcycle helmet, but that wont cut it. Where can I get a pretty cheap helmet?
