Default blown engine?

I’ve only been hanging out on the forum for a few weeks since I got my new 07 GT. But during that time I’ve got the impression that there are a lot of GT owners out in Mustang land that thrash their cars pretty hard and I’ve read the posts about the broken transmissions and differentials. Has anyone blown an engine and if so what happened, e.g. rod through the block, broken crank, piston, sucked valve.

It's usually the guys with ALOT of power who never rebuilt the bottom end.

Guys exceeding 450 rwhp WILL BLOW THEIR MOTORS. It is a fact. It may take a week, or it may take a year but it WILL happen, rest assured. The rods are literally the size of a toothbrush. My frined Pual posted pics of the rods next to a toothbrush and it was dead on accurate. (same size).

Anyone in the business will tell you that after 500 rwhp, it is definitely a matter of "WHEN" and not "if".

Good tuning keeps detonation at bay but no amount of tuning makes those rods any stronger...

Several guys I know who have blown a motor knew it was coming and were pushing the limits cause they planned a rebuild all along...

I think the rest of the rotating assembly is good for 550'ish IMO. It is the rods that are the very weak link to me.

Hmm, haven't heard a whole lot of people talkin about blown motors. My 07'was on nitrous for 9 months, now she's Supercharged at 10 psi. So far I haven't been able to kill her!

Pretty big tooth brush
Granted, this stock 4.6 rod should not have 450 RWHP.

If you stand it straight up and look at it from the side.
